I purchased this dagguerreotype a few years ago on ebay for not much money. Every now and again I dust it off and it strikes me how much care went into these old photos. A stark contrast to the digital age of thousands of files sitting on hard drives where no one can see them. All I can say is backup, backup and backup. Plus post, print and share. You know you can still print out photos pretty cheap and have a good old fashioned photo album for everyone look at. It's a nice way to talk to kids about their family and where they come from.
